    WHAT IS AN EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREENING? The early childhood years from birth to the start of kindergarten are an important time of rapid learning and growth. Early Childhood Screening is a quick and simple check of how your child is growing and developing. Between the ages of 3 and 4, screening can detect possible health or learning concerns, so that children can get help before they start kindergarten. Screening is required before kindergarten and recommended at 3.5 years old. Does my child need an Early Childhood Screening? YES - In order for your child to start kindergarten in any Minnesota public school, you will need to provide your child's Early Childhood Screening Summary Form and Immunization record. Is there a charge? No, Early Childhood Screening is FREE What will happen at the screening? At your child's screening, a trained professional will check the following: Vision Hearing Height/Weight Immunization status Thinking, language and communication skills, large and small motor skills Social & emotional development Screenings are held at Princeton Family Center - 706 1st St, Princeton, MN 55371
